Wednesday 30th May

Cooler this morning, and nice view of Red deer and a buzzard flying by. We also managed so see a cuckoo flying over. We are hearing them everywhere so it was a real treat to actually see one. Common seals lolling about on the little island as we checked the fields for hen harrier. we moved on into the hills and manged to see a lovely view of golden eagle over the hills. A male hen harrier made an appearance for us. they really are a lovely bird. The otters today were hard to find with a brief view of mum and cub while we had lunch. we did manage to see one later in the day rolling around on the island. The white tailed eagle nest was busy with the male flying in. its great to see them going about their business without any disturbance. Lovely Stone chat, wheatear, red shank and curlew as we drove round with great Northern divers and red breasted merganser on the sea lochs. Very hot in the afternoon giving us a quieter time for the wildlife but we enjoyed the spectacular views and the warm weather. Jacqui
