Tuesday 14th June
With the weather turning out much better than the forecast our day was very warm and sunny. the sea lochs were like mirrors reflecting the lovely summer colours. Our day was a good one with lots to see. A sleeping otter on an island off shore finally woke up so we could get a good look before he slid into the sea. Golden eagles sitting on rocks close to flying peregrines. They were fantastic to watch flying high and diving low. A privileged sight of a ringed plover on her nest, very close to the roadside. It would be so easy to miss seeing such a well camouflaged bird and nest showing how vulnerable they are to our human feet. With the sun out butterflies, dragonflies and moths all out feeding frantically on the flowers and insects. The more I see of the natural world I realise just how much there still is to know .
