Sunday 6th August, a north run

A private tour today and Mikes day off so he came out withme. We have a small contest between us as to who can see the most of the big 5. We headed from Tobermory to Salen with a look in the bay. Common seals and curlew. Mute swans and greylag geese. Heading to loch na Keal to look for otters. two spotted at distance so we moved to a better place to see them. it took a while to re locate them but they were much closer. great to see. About turn and off to the other shore for waders and white tailed eagles. Golden plover, ringed plover and dunlin scurrying around. Curlew and common gulls. The eagles were absent today. the light on the water was stunning and moody hills with lifting cloud. The showers were heavy. Two white tailed eagles briefly following a boat. two moreotters running over the rocks. The rain came down, very heavy and prolonged. Still vey beutiful though. Red deer hind in the field and further on a huge stag hiding and pretending to be a tree with its huge antlers in the mist. A white tailed eagle in a tree, sitting in the sun wich had now appeared for us. heading back and several little grebe in the lochs. Jacqui and Mike
