Sunday 21st May

Moody skies today. The met office was spot on with rain then lifting. The light was fantastic through the mountains as it pushed through the low clouds. Fist stop was very local to our house. lots os common seals on rocks. We the headed off to Loch na keal. As we made our way across the shores in the rain we enjoyed seeing lots of small birds. Such as skylarks, ringed plover, curlew and Golden plover. The skylarks were singing their wonderful song even in the rain. As promised the cloud started to lift just as we stopped for lunch. the white tailed eagle was sitting high in the nest and we were lucky to see as the male came in. Buzzards and raven enjoying the drier weather. Great northern divers looking very smart in their breeding colours. Our mountain stop at the golden eagle eerie was very misty. Luckily the cloud lifted enough for us to see the eagle sitting proud on the rock. Again we were lucky to see the exchange in the nest. Just getting into the minibus to go and one of my guests spotted a female hen harrier. brilliant. There was a stag across the glen and two on the hillside. Last couple of stops were fairly quiet. At our last stop we saw ringed plover, common gull and seals. the rain came in again so we decided to head for home. Always worth going out as we had some great experiences. Jacqui
