Monday May 8th

A great day today, some of the highlights which included 12 white tailed eagles. Our route took us to the white tailed eagle nest. one flew into the nest and we had a glimpse of the other on the nest A slight detour to grass point. Stone chats popping upon the growing bracken. Wheatear and meadow pipits. Red deer in the fields and buzzards hunting. Distant golden eagles. Our coffee spot was sheltered from the chilly wind. White tailed eagle over the hill. female hen harrier and lapwing. Tree pipit on the way back. A steady drive to our lunch stop. A brief otter while we ate, red throated diver, great northern diver, shelduck and some very strange crossbred ducks. Our next stop to look for otters, One spotted sound asleep on the shore. A very large male otter. he rolled around and went back to sleep. eventually the tide woke him up so he slid into the sea to go fishing. We went to look further up the bay. the mum and cub were playing and fishing. great to watch. Very quiet at our next stop so we carried on into the mountains. Cuppa and cake, a male hen harrier . Then a white tailed eagle flew over the top of the hill. Now things got a little confusing. I was watching one white tail and others were were saying there were three underneath it. I couldnt see them then realised they were watching more further on. A golden eagle came up for a brief  moment to challenge. Heading home after a very good day out. Jacqui
