Wednesday 2nd August
With the threat of rain by lunchtime and a rising tide we decided to head off to look for otters early A stop at the bay gave us red breasted merganser, coomon sandpiper, common gulls and greylag geese. Our coffee break was shared with two white tailed eagles on the island with the common seals and two otters running around. A steady drive around the lovely coastline, lots of meadows and woodland. Buzzard family flying around. Lots of grey herons and wheatear. Lunch and another otter, very busy fishing and she moved around the corner. Red throated diver. A brief sight of a male hen harrier, red deer stags on the hills. The weather started to change, we did see more deer and buzzards flying over the hill. Last stop and a white tailed eagle in a tree, ringed plover, turnstone, eider ducks and common gulls. Common terns and a rather large saddleback pig.
