Tuesday 25th July

Things are changing quickly here. summer is at its height and the weather today was very warm. Eagle chicks are fledging. we are still seeing white tailed eagles and golden eagles but in different places as their focus is on their moving chicks.   Our day was leisurely. Highlights were white tailed eagles in a tree and sitting on the shore. stone chat and kestrel. Lots of grey herons around as the new chicks are sitting around the shore next to a parent. Common seal pups getting brave and playing in the sea. wheatear still around and two red throated divers. Little grebe, common sandpiper and red breasted merganser. Terns and gannets busy diving for food. The wild flowers are moving into the late summer colours, red berries on the rowen trees and the heather is almost out. Slight hold up as the highland cows were being herded along the main road. none minded great to see. We had a lovely day, leisurely and warm. Jacqui
