Tuesday 22nd May

A great day for wildlife today, a Tobermory pickup today with wonderful scenery as we came over the brow of the hill heading to Salen. With a cool wind but sunny We set off to look for anything and everything. At our first stop Common seals on the islands and lots of terns flying around. Oystercatchers busy making as much noise as they can. Cuppa stop, a lovely willow warbler singing behind us. Into the mountains and a great treat of a male hen harrier passing food to its mate. we watched as she settled on the ground with her prey. Distant golden eagle over the hills. Fairly quiet at our next stop so we thought it a good plan to go for lunch. Looking out to sea and an otter spotted. then another. We watched as they fed and climbed on to rocks. then they came right past us. brilliant. Into the glen and a white tailed eagle on the nest a brief view of the chick all white and fluffy. The day disappeared quickly as usual so we headed off for our afternoon cuppa and watched the white tailed eagles on the rocks. another otter running on the islands finished our day. Then on the way home fallow deer in the fields a good day. Jacqui
