Thursday 6th October

Lovely sunny day, real autumn feel to the weather.very clear and sharp visibility. Lots of shore birds around, ring plover, common gull, and oystercatcher. Common seals lounging around on rocks. Widgeon and mute swans in the bay with three greenshank, more seals on the rocks. Our first white tailed sea eagle was at a distance flying high. And we were treated to a lovely female hen harrier. it was flying and dropping constantly in the same place. we couldnt see what it was dropping on to as it was behind a bush. As we moved on we saw two otters on a very close rock. we waited for them to move off before getting out of the bus to watch. they swam around and played on the rocks they disappeared for  while then reappeared on the rocks. we watched for sometime until they moved away. Our day continued with other white tailed eagle sightings, kestrals, buzzards and a lovely sight of a golden eagle in the sun. Red deer in the hills and low in the fields close to us. two more female hen harrier finished our day.
