Thursday 6th April Boot and bus

Well what a wonderful day. While waiting to meet my second guests from the ferry we were treated to an otter eating its catch on a headland across from us. Sadly it had just gone when they arrived. Our first stop was very busy, so much to see. The white tailed eagle sat on the nest was a good start, then another juvenile was seen on the islands across from us. While we looked at ringed plover, curlew, Common gulls, common seals, eiders and great northern divers the gulls went up and another adult white tailed eagle landed on the islands. Number 4 eagle was sat on the hill behind us. We were then treated to it flying over us. We headed off to take our walk, into loch Ba. the clouds were low, lots of little birds in the trees. Blue tits, chaffinch and goldcrest. all in the tops of the trees giving us a stiff neck! Lovely walk to the head of the Loch. The mist mountains all around us with sun casting across the landscape. A cuppa and a golden eagle in the nest, there was a change over while we watched. Lovely to see them settled again this year. Of course there was the two otters behind us as well. mum and cub fishing happily just off the shore. A steady drive, more eagles in the hills and hen harrier male. Red deer,a great stag still with full antlers. Stone chat and skylarks. Meadow and rock pipits. Distant white tailed eagles and a brief hen harrier. lots of buzzards today lovely watching them climbing the thermals. Heading for home with a close white tailed eagle on the nest and two flying behind. Quite a day.
