Thursday 22nd June

Well longest day is behind us and the weather is very stormy. Took mum out yesterday to loch na keal and we had lightning forking down in front of us. brilliant. we also saw an otter, red throated divers and two white tailed eagles. Back to our tour on Thursday. A very good day. The threat of rain in the afternoon made the decision for us of which way to head. We began with seeing the white tailed eagle on the nest, brief glimpses as it  bobbed up and down. Distant otter and common terns very close. We continued with a stop at the golden eagle nest and we were treated to great views of the adults flying and sitting on the hillside. again brief views of the chick in the nest. White tailed eagles on the skerries almost as lazy as the seals and black guillemots. Our day continued with otters, one at first then another joined in. Rolling around and one brought a big crab on shore. They were mun and very grown up cub. Red deer, loads of chicks goslings and young rabbits. wheatear, and a fantastic view of a male hen harrier. The rain did come in but it didnt dull our day. Jacqui
