Sunday 14th May

Lovely tour today, Just two guests as we had some cancellations due to illness. Such a shame for people looking forward to a holiday and having to cancel. Mike was out today which was lovely and more eyes for spotting. we have a friendly spotting competition between us. never sure who wins though. Our day started as usual with a white tailed eagle in the nest. the sun on it so we decided to return later in the day. Common seals, lots of them. Red deer on the hill. Stopping on route to our cuppa stop. fairly quiet with buzzards, greylag geese and canada geese. more red deer on the hill.  Carrying on and a shout from the back big birds flying. we found a place to stop and enjoyed watching two white tailed eagles flying across. Brilliant views showing their white tails in the sun. a bird call behind us and a white tailed eagle being mobbed by a raven. couldnt get much better than this. Cuppa and lapwings with chicks, calling snipe, oystercatchers and meadow pipits. skylarks singing in the sky. The wildflowers are really coming out now.Shades of blue all over the hills with hundreds of bluebells, a sign of ancient woodland in the past. Primroses and violets out and the first few yellow flag iris just in flower. Golden eagles in the hills and an otter fishing in the river. a white throat warbler appeared close to us. Willow warblers singing at every stop as well as cuckoo. We returned to our first stop. the white tailed eagle was on the top of the tree. just as we had hoped. A good day. Jacqui and Mike
