September, A wee holiday
September is one of our Favorite months. The returning Migrant birds such as Great Northern divers and Slavonian Grebe will be returning soon.
We started out month with a short break. We planned to camp in the new minibus and head to Lewis.
Interesting trying to get off Mull as the weather hit us with torrential rain. The ferries were affected and roads closed. We took 4 hours to leave finally on the Kilchoan ferry.
The first night we wild camped on a very quiet road on route to Skye. We made it to Harris the next day.
Our second night was with Golden eagles, White tailed sea Eagles and stunning views. Misty enjoyed a warm coat and new places to run.
We just managed to catch a sunset as the weather changed again.
All the next day was very wet. Undeterred we travelled up through Lewis stopping to enjoy interesting sights on the way such as Calanish standing stones and Dunn. The smell of peat burning was with us all day. Its such a lovely earthy scent.
The Butt of Lewis was our camp for the night. We shared it with lots of Gannets and Fulmar.
As we sat having a cuppa the weather cleared and gave us a stunning view and lovely sunset.
Dolphins , Porpoise and lots more sea birds on our trip across to mainland.
Our last camp was again gorgeous. Just below Ullapool in the middle of nowhere. Then home to a very Beautiful Mull.
