Monday 4th June
Another warm day. with this in mind we decided to look for the birdlife first as they disappear when it gets too hot. Lots of terns close in common and Arctic nest on mull such beautiful graceful birds. Common seals on the islands. Busy buzzards and warblers, red deer and heron at our next stop. Cuppa in the hills, and golden eagles, red deer and stone chats kept us company. We of course had to call and check the golden eagle eerie. One adult on the nest and one watching us from the top of the hill. A female hen harrier and a male hen harrier over the hill in front of us. Cuckoo calling behind. what a brilliant sight. Red breasted merganser, great northern diver, black guillemot and common sandpiper were all over today. We stopped to check the white tailed eagle nest but they were keeping low as it was getting very hot. Patience paid off as the chick popped up and then the adult. A leisurely drive back in the baking sun. Yes we are still in Scotland.
