From drumming snipe to nesting eagles

8 th May boot and bus tour. What a great tour today, lots to see on a warm day. Setting off this morning with two white tailed eagles in a tree near their nest, Arctic terns and a lovely ringed plover close by. Our tea break had us enjoying two snipe in the sky, making a sound similar to whirling a piece of card on a string around your head, as I did as a child. Fantastic to see this small wader displaying high above us. The red deer below just carried on eating. Our walk took us along a forest track, we had barely left the vehicle when we had a white tailed eagle flying over us and both male and female hen harrier flying over the trees. The track puddle again gave us a treat of a common newt. We were treated to cuckoo showing well on top of a tree. warblers everywhere.lovely walk. Our afternoon gave us two otters rolling around in the seaweed with another further out swimming. Ending the day with a golden eagle on its nest.
