Friday 5th August

A quiet start to our day today, with a high tide at our first couple of stops we looked hard for otters. none to be seen. There were lots of common seals and eider ducks, Common gulls, grey heron greater black backed gull. The special treat has to be the flash of iridescent blue, thanks to the quick eye of one of my guests. We kept watching and I saw the kingfisher flash by then settle on a shingle bank. too far for a photo but gorgeous in the telescope. We carried on, all quiet surprising for a lovely morning. The views over the hills and sea were spectacular colours reflecting in the water. During lunch a white tailed eagle flew over, two buzzards and a pair of kestrels. We went into the hills to see if we could find golden eagles, the chick was around and calling in the distance but no where to be seen. One of the adults appeared over the mountain. lovely to see. Red deer and a male hen harrier, then a female hen harrier on a post. final stop and a brief white tailed eagle flying as we arrived. it was supposed to wait for us to get a good look at it in the tree. Hmmm wildlife! Jacqui
