Friday 28th July

Well it was certainly a day for unusual sights, We started off with a lovely dipper in the river, not seen them for a while as they have been busy nesting. Next stop and two otters running around on the rocks and a hen harrier, female flying across the hillside, not seen one there before. all this before a cuppa. Stone chat and wheatear all around us. realised we are not seeing some of our summer visitors such as common sandpiper. time is going on. Driving on towards our lunch stop and a white tailed eagle in a tree. We stopped for lunch and were told the min road was closed due to a crash, we carried on a bit further the retraced our steps. Interesting (maybe not) sight of a man relieving himself. obviously not shy!! For us the return worked well as we saw two more otters, they were swimming and running around the rocks. lovely. Almost back and 2white tailed eagles on the Island. we waited as the tide was coming in and hoped they would fly. they were ankle deep in water before they eventually took off. While we waited two otters were on the headland, i assume the same two we saw earlier. Lots of seals on the rocks. A very good wildlife day. Jacqui
