Tuesday 15th May

With a good day forecast we set off with great expectations, Common gull, curlew, buzzard, common seals gave us a good start. On our cuppa stop we saw red deer, buzzards and a lovely white throat warbler. Off to the hills and golden and white tailed sea eagles over the hills. Further on checking a golden eagle eerie. A head appeared for a brief glimpse then disappeared again. Lunch stop and a mum and cub otter in the distance. the warm sun brought out the butterflies and bees. could this be spring?? A steady drive and a white tailed eagle overhead being mobbed by buzzards. Then off to check a white tailed eagle nest. The female sat in the nest giving us a good view as she is now sitting high with chicks. There was a sea fret coming in which limited our visibility to see the islands. very moody with unusual clouds. Our home run and a great last stop with an otter on the rocks eating and running around. Lots to see today including Great Northern divers, black guillemot, red breasted merganser and common sandpiper. Good day out Jacqui
