I have been a bit lazy with my blogs lately. busy getting things ready for the 2018 season.
We have take a few winter wildlife tours and had great wildlife sightings. Next tour tomorrow.
Today was the Isle of Mull bird club bird count. This is a challenge to head off around Mull and count as many birds as possible. A friendly competition for the number of different birds seen. Starting anywhere at 9.30 am and finishing at Ballygown restaurant for home made cakes and tea. The cakes were fantastic.
With the new minibus full of eager bird club members we started with our bird feeders and garden birds. A good start. sadly for us but not the chaffinches the sparrowhawk didnt appear. We did see one later in the day.
The weather was cool and rainy but we were keen to make the best of the day. Heading on our usual route with less stops we managed to find 61 birds coming in a close 2nd. One of which was a red necked grebe, fantastic to see a lovely bird. And of course two otters.
