Friday June the 1st

June 2, 2018 8:12 pm

June already, and still lots of sunshine.

Craignure pickup today then we headed south. Fairly quiet at our first stop apart from the midges. rather than being eaten we made off to find a better stop with a breeze.

Lots of birds in the woods including willow warbler, chaffinch  and a great spotted woodpecker flew by. Big birds over the hills just too distant to be sure of what they were. Buzzards flying and red deer on the skyline.

A little wren at our next stop singing so loud for such a small bird. common seals draped over the rocks.

Golden eagles over the hills and a male hen harrier. red deer on the skyline as we enjoyed a drink and biscuit.

We spent some time at our next stop as we were keen to see the golden eagle come into the eerie. our wait paid off as the golden eagle appeared with a white tailed eagle above fantastic. the golden eagle dropped into the nest giving everyone a great view.

The heat was getting higher now at 28 degrees. thank goodness for air conditioning in the minibus.

Our day ended with golden and white tailed eagles. the white tailed was on the island and flew across us and the golden were over the hill behind. A great end to our day. Jacqui
