Friday 15th March
A battle with the weather today, two of my guests were coming from Oban for the day so it was fingers crossed for the ferry running.
All fine, We had a really good start to the day, the first couple of stops gave us common gull, redshank, great northern diver, curlew, widgeon, white tailed eagle and a giant rabbit!!
Dodging the hail showers we enjoyed a good morning watching both golden and white tailed eagles. two of the white tailed eagles were at the nest site. braving the weather.
Common seals moving onto the rocks and a white tailed eagle flying across the hillside. Up into the hills and golden eagles flying high, male hen harrier flying across the road in front of us and a white tailed eagle flying to the side of us. good thing we had great spotters on board.
Otters and us having lunch, mum and two cubs. fishing then coming out on the rocks. mum tried to sleep while the cubs played in the water. Lovely stone chats displaying , Pied wagtail and rock pippit.
As always the day went very fast. towards the end we watched a white tailed eagle flying across us. We lost it behind a small hill. then a call from behind me”There`s a big bird on the ground” there it was the white tailed eagle on the ground. What a great view.
Last stop of the day and a golden eagle over the hill. We watched as it went into the nest. As we drove back to Salen red deer were in the field.
