I cannot believe how fast the time has gone. June and so far July has been exceptionally busy. This is not a complaint I am delighted that people have been booking with me , some have been before and seem to enjoy coming back!
I have been very lax in doing my daily blog. My excuse is I just ran out of time and energy at the end of a very busy day. June and early July has been exceptionally hot and sunny. Its been lovely not wearing waterproofs every day and being able to show my guests the top of the mountains. The weather is a little more normal now and I must say its great seeing waterfalls again.
The self catering cottage is full until the end of October with some weeks booked over winter. We will have another cottage to let next year. Perfect for two.
The wildlife has been fantastic, seeing a young golden eagle growing and finally flying high. Otters have been seen lots although a bit harder now we are into the high season with more people around. Red deer have been high on hill tops keeping cool and fly free in the breeze. The midges have been very easy to live with as they dont like the heat.
Hen harriers great to see with the males busy passing food. Lots of baby birds around at the moment, our garden feeders are full of young siskins and some red poll. The common or harbour seals are just having their babies. they are so cute.
Treats for me have been many and include very close otters, a young hen harrier flying just over us, White tailed eagles having a standoff with a red deer and her calf. Newts in our pond for the first time. Hedgehog in the garden. short eared owl, minke whale on a trip out with whalewatchwithus. my birthday treat with alternative boat tours on the the Birthe Marie. Such a lovely boat. we had hoped to use the sailed but it was flat calm. It did give us a stunning day out , landing on Lunga amongst puffins. Its always a treat getting out on the sea, lots of sea birds including puffins and porpoise.
Couple of scary moments with a red deer stag jumping in front of us. luckily I stopped in time. now that was a very close encounter. The other was a rock fall that seemed to have happened just before we got there.
Now, I am hoping to have a little time off with Mike and family will becoming over the school holidays.
